Helsinki, Finland

Heyyyy,

I’m finally continuing a story about my trip to the north. As you probably know I spent 2 days in Estonia. After that we took a morning ferry to Finland. It didn’t take us that long to  get there, only a few hours. So we had the whole day in Helsinki. Luckily, the weather was perfect. It was pretty warm and the most importantly it did not rain. We started our journey at Market square because it is basically next to the port. The Market Square is Helsinki’s most international and famous market. They sell loads of traditional crafts, souvenirs and food.  Actually, we didn’t buy that many things there, we just walked around, got coffee and bought a few snacks which were really good. They even had vegan toffee ice cream! Loved it! One of my favourite places in Helsinki was Temppeliaukio Church (Rock Church). “The church hall is covered with a dome, lined with copper and supported on the rock walls by reinforced concrete beams. The interior walls are of rugged rock and rubble wall.” I think the best time to go there is noon because you can see the sun light spreading from the roof. It’s one of those places you must visit in Helsinki. My other favourite was Helsinki Cathedral. It reminds me of something we have back in Lithuania but a bigger version. “The church is part of Helsinki’s Empire era centre and a landmark for those arriving by sea. It has become the symbol of the whole of Helsinki. Earlier called St. Nicholas Church and Great Cathedral, the current main church of the Helsinki Diocese was completed in 1852. Sculptures of the twelve apostles guard the city from the roof of the church.” We also went to places like Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral, Old Market Hall, Parliament, Senate Square etc. Unfortunately, we only had one day there, so we didn’t have enough time to see everything. We had to leave Helsinki late at night, we took a ferry to Estonia and after that we drove back to Lithuania. And it was the end of our little holiday. I really hope I will have a chance to go back to both of these countries and see everything I missed.
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy the photos!
